Serverside Ranking and Awards

Just thought id update you on some stuff ive been working on in the background, i know some of you wanted extra things ingame to make it more interesting so ive been working on making serverside ranking and awards scripts, early days yet but heres a vid clip of me testing on my local server, i dont have players to kill on my local network so i changed it to give me rank for suicides to test if it would work ...



So in my script after 4 suicides i told it to rank me as a Sergeant, and it worked

Confused? dont worry, what i will be doing is giving players ranks based on their score, the higher you score your rank will increase, here are the ranks ...

RANK_0 Private
RANK_1 Private First Class
RANK_2 Lance Corporal
RANK_3 Corporal
RANK_4 Sergeant
RANK_5 Staff Sergeant
RANK_6 Gunnery Sergeant
RANK_7 Master Sergeant
RANK_8 First Sergeant
RANK_9 Master Gunnery Sergeant
RANK_10 Sergeant Major
RANK_11 Sergeant Major of the Corps

What i havent decided yet is what score gives you which rank, i could also just do it for kills but SU34 pilots and Cobra Pilots would be top very quick lol! so best if its based on the players score which encourages teamwork and flag capturing I was thinking maybe give them a rank after 30 points? That would make you need 330 points to be Sergeant Major of the Corps (you already start as a private), i know ive hit well over 200 points before so 330 will be achievable if you work hard, we can always adjust the amount higher if needed.

Your comments/ideas for rank per score are welcome, i will say we should not make it too easy and it will encourage people to stay longer to see themselves get ranks. Of course players ranks will be gone once they leave the server and come back later as this is just a serverside script and doesnt store the information., but i think peeps will come back to try harder next time

Im also able to give awards ingame, i tested giving myself an award for using the parachute and it worked so awards can be given for armour kills, heli kills etc etc, ill be working on that one after i finish the rank one.

But it remember only for one game, right ?

And what about enhancing the multikills - if you stay alive, and shoot enemy you will have bigger and bigger multikill (double kill, multi kill, ultra kill monster kill, killing spree, rampage and so on)

Thats right Sev, only for one game then you have to start again on the next map.

The Multikills and messages are built into a program, i dont have access to changing it, people have requested access to change things in it before but the maker hasnt allowed it yet.

Well, not always, there would be a no-life kid who can't play at all but gets score cause hes 24/7 in server.

No, the awards/ranks are reset after the map has ended, you have to start all over again on new round

Heres me and one of my sons testing the awards on my LAN, i told the script to give awards after each kill so i didnt have to kill him loads of times lol ...



It worked perfect ill now adjust it to 25/50/100 kills for the 3 medals (Beginner/Advanced/Expert)

UPDATE:

Ive now uploaded the Awards Script to the Pinoy server, here is a list of what ive added ...

Helicopter:
Basic = 25 kills
Advanced = 50 kills
Expert = 100 kills

Armour:
Basic = 25 kills
Advanced = 50 kills
Expert = 75 kills

Soldier:
Basic = 10 kills
Advanced = 25 kills
Expert = 50 kills

Aviator:
Basic = 25 kills
Advanced = 50 kills
Expert = 75 kills

Air Defence:
Basic = 5 kills
Advanced = 10 kills
Expert = 25 kills

If anyone sees any problems or the kills ratios need adjusting let me know, ive based the scoring on how easy it is to get kills with that type vehicle, these should all be achievable by the end of the round ( if you try hard )

Ill be adding the Rank script once i find the best place to hook it in to monitor the players scores.

Why helicopter does have 100 kills for expert ?

I can change to 75 if you wish, i think with the TV Guided Missile kills can be gained quicker against Helis, Armour and even Planes but yeh ill make it 75 the same as Aviator if you wish

You can not judge it like that because there are few good shooters...
and its the same with airplane - if you are good you can gain more kills than with copter...

Note - the awards system on Pinoy seems to have a bug so ignore the awards if you see any as its not tracking correctly, im looking at it now.

Ive disabled the awards for the moment until i find why its not tracking, will keep you informed.

speaking about trouble shoooting, pinoy had somekind of troubles it rebooted itself whole the time and made my CC go nuts, what was/is wrong with it?

oh well i downloaded xfire here at my grandmas so i try to communcate with it

Pinoy is back onlline, i will be working on the Awards bug later tonight so at the moment its disabled on Pinoy, the server is back to how it was before i added it.

Im opening another server called COBRANS =(c)= Modding Tests, (big thanks to Dyestavos), any modding i do will be on this server and if im happy its working ok i can transfer any of its mods to Pinoy if requested to be on that server.

The Ranks and Awards ill add to the Modding server first so i can monitor them and make sure its alright before adding to Pinoy, then Pinoy wont need disturbed during my modding tests.

Anything i add to the Modding server i will explain what it is here so you can try things out and report back any findings or if its good/crap etc, or just play and have fun

It should be online by tomorrow and ill be starting work on it tomorrow afternoon onwards, ill add one of my map mods for peeps to play on while i do things in the background.
